Students may choose to include study for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) in their class schedule. Currently this course meets six hours per week for eight weeks in the afternoons from 1-3:00 pm. Students also may use program tutors and extra workshops to help them prepare for the test.
The Institutional TOEFL is a paper-based version of the TOEFL. It includes 3 test sections: Listening, Structure, and Reading Comprehension. There is no writing section on this test.
Doors open at 8.45 am on the day of the test. Please refer to the information you receive with your test registration for testing day location and details. Unofficial scores will be posted by 3:00 pm the day of testing; ETS score results are generally mailed to test takers 3-4 weeks later. Unofficial scores will be reported to local schools as permitted by ETS rules and as requested by test takers. Scores on the Monterey Institute Institutional TOEFL are reported to the Monterey Institute Admissions Office and to other local schools upon request. A nominal fee will be charged for any score reporting after initial test reports are mailed.
