My Institute Experience
Picture of Jessica Massie
As a Peace Corps Master's Internationalist, I spent two years in Guinea, West Africa, teaching English at the secondary and university level. It is hard to sum that up – it was an absolutely incredible experience, and it would not have been the same if I hadn’t had the preparation from the Monterey Institute.

4. When we receive your application, the financial document, and the fee payment, we will send you a SEVIS I-20 form and MIIS ESL-EAPP acceptance letter. Students outside the United States should take the acceptance letter, the SEVIS Form I-20, a valid passport, and other supporting documents to the nearest US Consulate to apply for a student visa (not a tourist visa).

Students already in the United States who are transferring from another school send a photocopy of their validated SEVIS Form I-20(s) to the Monterey Institute with their application.

Students may postpone their arrival and use the tuition deposit for enrollment in a later session (up to one year) if they are unable to arrive for the session indicated on the application form.

If the US Consulate or Embassy does not authorize a visa, students may request a refund of their $150.00 non-refundable tuition deposit by contacting the Intensive English Program and providing proof of visa denial.

If you have questions about your visa status, please contact the Director of the Intensive English Programs Offices.
